Bring the heart and soul of Wales everywhere with this Clogau Gold Dragon necklace. This necklace was created to mirror the appearance of the Welsh dragon, famously known for being the centre of the Welsh flag. Crafted using 9ct Welsh yellow gold and rose gold. The famous dragon originated from the legend of Merlin. It is believed that a Celtic King named Vortigern was looking for somewhere to build a Castle, where he eventually found a place on the hillside of Dinas Emrys. Merlin warned Vortigen that the site he had in mind was where two dragons lay sleeping. Vortigerns men discovered two dragons, one was white and one was red. After a battle between the two, the red dragon won, hence why the red dragon is present on the Welsh flag, to symbolise power and authority.
This gold dragon necklace is exceptional as a gift to yourself or someone who is a true Welsh patriot enthusiast, since the main symbolisation of this pendant is courage. Also, this would be a fitting gift for someone on St David’s day, a day that is dedicated to celebrating St David, the patron saint of Wales. He was renowned for preforming miracles such as resurrection and restoring sight to a blind man. This gold necklace is also suitable for all ages and genders and can be matched with the Welsh Dragon earrings and the cufflinks. Suitable for everyday wear because of its simplistic design.
The richest and and largest of all the mines in Dolgellau gold mining area was known as the Clogau St David’s mine. It is situated in Bontddu, near Barmouth in Gwynedd north-west Wales. It quickly became one of the fastest growing brands of jewellery ever. Clogau jewellery is an heirloom that has a combination of cultural and personal meaning. The brand became so popular that even members of the Royal family started wearing jewellery from Clogau. Wedding rings have specifically been custom made for the Royal Family. To extract the rare gold from the mines, Clogau separated out the gold using water from the adjacent crystalline streams.
