Theres something odly cute and charming about BB-8, unlike R2D2 and C3P0, BB-8 almost seems childlike in nature, with it’s speed and urgency running throughout Jakku after loosing his owner and friend Poe he attempts to continue the mission without him, proving his loyalty and dedication to the resistance.
Much like the previous trilogies, BB-8 became the dependable droid which aided his allies, as he helped Rey locate vital keys to discovering the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, who had since gone into hiding after his training with Ben Solo, now Kylo Ren had turned so sinister. Luke vowed to never train another Jedi, at the risk of repeating what had happened with Ben.
BB-8 also featured as critical roles within the attacks on star killer base and other prominent battles within the final trilogy.
